All counseling is available to Stony Brook students free of charge
Individual Counseling
Individual counseling offers students the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a therapist to discuss personal concerns in a safe and supportive environment.
Couples Counseling
Couples counseling is offered to couples experiencing difficulties in their relationship. Counseling gives couples the opportunity to meet with a therapist to discuss concerns, learn ways to improve communication, and increase their ability to negotiate relationships.
Groups
Various groups are offered throughout the year. Many students find their concerns can best be addressed through counselor-facilitated interactions with other students who relate to their experiences in some way. Call us at 632-9666 to find out what support groups are currently being offered.
Outreach
We provide outreach programming to students, faculty, and staff on gender related issues highlighting growth, well-being, and healthy development. We are also available to train residential hall employees, staff, and campus groups on a variety of topics. Possible topics for outreach presentations include relationships, gender identity and expression, sexual assault, domestic violence, and gay, lesbian, and bisexual issues. Please call us if you are interested in having us provide an outreach program.
