PROGRAMMING SUPPORT

To support and enhance an already thriving student life at Stony Brook, the university provides financial upport for programming initiated by students and student organizations/clubs. Support is provided for a variety of types of programs -  for example, weekend life programming , diversity programming, environmental/sustainability programming – and grants are usually awarded to those programming proposals that demonstrate efforts that are new and creative, create a level of enthusiasm among campus community, inspire school spirit, promote multiculturalism, and foster collaboration among students, faculty and staff.

Weekend Life Programming Grant

The Weekend Life Programming Grant is offered through the Division of Student Life and has been developed to enhance the quality of Weekend Life at Stony Brook University. Weekend Life includes any event held Thursday through Sunday. Student groups and University Departments provide scholastic, recreational, spiritual, intellectual, cultural, political and social opportunities for interaction through exceptional programming. Stony Brook continues to encourage and support student programs and challenges groups to expand their horizons by implementing new and innovative weekend programs. The Weekend Life Programming Grant supports efforts that are new and creative, create a level of enthusiasm among campus community, inspire school spirit, bridge multicultural relations and foster collaboration among students, faculty and staff.

Dialogues Across Differences

"Dialogues Across Differences" programming grants provides support for programs that work to build community, bring together communities of people that are different from each other, that provide opportunities for inclusion, and those that help to further create an inclusive multicultural environment for students, faculty, and staff.

EarthStock Environmental Awareness & Sustainability Programming Grant

Sustainability has become one of the most pressing issues of the 21st Century. In order to inform the campus community of the various actions that can be taken in the creation and development of an environmentally conscious campus, the Earthstock Planning Committee has put together The Earthstock Environmental Awareness and Sustainability Programming Grant. In the spirit of Earth Day, the Earthstock committee will provide support to any student organization that will lead a program that promotes sustainability and environmental awareness. EarthStock 2009 is scheduled to run from Friday, April 17 – Wednesday April 22.
