Information and Planning about the Flu

Stony Brook University, along with other U.S. universities and public schools are implementing plans to deal with a surge in influenza-like infections. Updates

New 2009-2010 SAC/SBU Operating Hours: Read the memo here.

The use of candles in the SAC & SBU are now allowed. A Fire Marshall will not be necessary provided the following precautions are followed: flames must be protected by a glass/non-flammable encasement such as a votive or glass jar. The flame must be below the glass line. Taper candles used without a glass encasement are not allowed. To maximize safety precautions, event organizers are encouraged to use floating candles in water.

  • SAC & SBU Facilities Operations Adds New Equipment to inventory

To serve the increasing needs of our event organizers, the Dept. of Facilities Operations recently added a portable LCD projector, laptop, and conference phone to our inventory. This means we now offer:

  • 2 Portable LCD projectors in the SAC
  • 1 portable LCD projector in the SBU
  • 1 Laptop for the SAC & 1 Laptop for the SBU
  • 1 Polycom conference phone capable of hosting conference calls and assisting with webcasts in the SAC.

Due to the heavy demand for our A/V equipment we recommend event organizers request all equipment at least a week in advance.
