RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS LEADERSHIP AWARDS

Each year, the Residential Program puts together the Leadership Awards Ceremony & Reception as a way to recognize students, staff, programs, and initiatives that have contributed to the Residential community.

CATEGORIES AND CRITERIA

Outstanding First Year Student Leader Award
This award is given to an outstanding first year student. Please nominate a first year student who has demonstrated strong leadership skills and positively impacted the campus and local communities.

Please explain why you nominated this student for the Outstanding First Year Student Leader Award. This award is designated for students who are not currently student staff members.  Please utilize the following criteria:

  • Demonstrates ability to motivate others
  • Demonstrates growth and potential as a leader
  • Effectively maintains a balance between academics and leadership involvement
  • Initiates change/growth in organizations or building/residential community
  • Participates in their Undergraduate College

Outstanding Hall Council Award
This award is given to an outstanding college legislature. Please nominate a hall council that has positively impacted the residential, campus, and local communities.

Please explain why you nominated this group for the Outstanding Hall Council Award. Please utilize the following criteria in constructing your nomination:

  • Involvement in Departmental initiatives (e.g. Homecoming, Pride Patrol, ‘Tis the Season, Blood Drives, etc.)
  • Demonstrates active community awareness
  • Positively impacts residential or local communities
  • CARA or SARA are included in the award

Outstanding Educational Program Award
This award is given to an outstanding educational program.  Please nominate a program coordinated by your Hall/UGC Council that has positively impacted the residential community.

Please explain why you nominated this program. Highlight the date, time, location, content, and attendance. Remember that this award is designated for students that are not currently staff members. Please utilize the following criteria:

  • Planned and developed an inclusive and creative educational/community program for the   campus or residential community
  • Effectively initiated involvement in the community
  • Demonstrated efficiency in the implementation of the program (e.g. processes by which the program was created, promoted, implemented, and evaluated)
  • UGC Councils, CARA, SARA are included in the award

Outstanding Leader of the Year Award
This award is given to an outstanding student leader. Please nominate a student who has demonstrated leadership abilities above and beyond the call of duty. Each Quad will choose an Outstanding Quad Leader of the Year Award. Then each Quad Leader of the Year should be submitted to the Leadership Development Committee for consider for the campus-wide Leader of the Year Award.

Please explain why you nominated this student for the Outstanding Student Leader Award. Remember that this award is designated for students that are not currently student staff members. Please utilize the following criteria:

  • Demonstrates ability to motivate others
  • Holds multiple leadership positions
  • Effectively balances academics and involvement
  • Has effectively and positively contributed to your Quad’s community development.
  • Hall Council, UGC Councils, CARA, and/or SARA involvement

Outstanding Social Program Award
This award is given to an outstanding social program. Please nominate a social
program that has positively impacted the residential community as well as encouraged students to have fun and meet new people hosted by Hall/UGC Councils!

Please explain why you nominated this program. Highlight the date, time, location, content, and attendance. Remember that this award is designated for students that are not currently staff members.  Please utilize the following criteria:

  • Planned and developed an inclusive and creative program for the campus or residential community
  • Effectively initiated involvement and participation from the community
  • Demonstrated efficiency in the implementation of the program (e.g. processes by which the program was created, publicized, implemented, and evaluated)
  • UGC Councils, CARA, SARA are included in the award

Outstanding Peer Educator Award
This award is given to an outstanding peer educator. Please nominate a Peer Educator that has positively impacted the residential, campus, and local communities!

Please explain why you nominated this student for the Outstanding Student Peer Educator Award.  Please utilize the following criteria:

  • Positively impacts residential, local, or university communities
  • Student involved with the program serve directly as educational agents with their peers and beyond.

Adviser of the Year
Please nominate a current adviser for a building legislature who has provided excellent guidance and support for a college legislature throughout the year.

Please explain why you nominated this adviser for the Adviser of the Year Award. Please include the following; how they motivate others, their availability, and how they support your UGC/Hall Council.

RHA Representative of the Year
Please nominate a RHA Representative who has demonstrated strong leadership skills and positively impacted the campus and local communities as a member of the Residence Hall Association.

Please explain why you nominated this student for the RHA Representative of the Year Award. Please utilize the following criteria:

  • Demonstrates ability to motivate others
  • Has demonstrated growth and potential as a leader
  • Effectively maintains a balance between academics and leadership involvement

NRHH Member of the Year
Please nominate an NRHH member who has demonstrated strong leadership skills and positively impacted the campus and local communities as part of the National Residence Hall Honorary.

Please explain why you nominated this student for the “NRHH Member of the year Award.” Please utilize the following criteria:

  • Demonstrates ability to motivate others
  • Has demonstrated growth and potential as a leader
  • Effectively maintains a balance between academics and leadership involvement
  • Initiates change/growth in organizations or building/residential community

Academic Recognition
Registered Hall Council Executive Board members with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher are recognized for balancing their leadership role and their academic performance.

Outstanding Commitment Award
Registered Hall Council Member with two or more years of commitment and service are recognized for the contributions to the development of their hall council and residential community.
