Welcome to the website for the Office of Multicultural Affairs! Our office is dedicated to helping Stony Brook University maintain an all-inclusive campus community where diversity is valued and celebrated, and where multicultural learning is promoted. We believe that diversity is an educational asset for all Stony Brook students, and we are committed to preparing Stony Brook's future graduates for social responsibility and engagement in a diverse democracy and an interdependent world.
The Office of Multicultural Affairs offers students opportunities for learning, leadership and campus involvement, and personal development through programs, collaborative efforts, community service, and related academic experiences. We also work with University departments to promote student success. Please visit our website often for updates and important information.

Students/Faculty/Staff interested in joining the Multicultural Women's Alliance Planning Group are invited to attend the next meeting on November 18th, 12:40pm - 2:10pm (Campus Life Time) at the UNITI Cultural Center, Suite 135 SB Union. MWA members are dedicated to building positive cross-cultural relationships among Stony Brook's women of diverse backgrounds.
The Black History Month Committee is planning events for February 2010. Interested students/faculty/staff are welcome to join. Future meetings: November 11th and December 2nd, 12:40pm - 2:10pm (Campus Life Time) at the UNITI Cultural Center, Suite 135 SB Union.
The 9th Annual Festival of Lights Program will be held on December 9th in the SAC Auditorium. All are invited to participate in this intercultural program that highlights the religious celebrations of the Holiday season (Christmas, Hanukah, Diwali, Kwanzaa, etc.)! Pre-event reception & crafts-making begins at 6:00pm, followed by cultural performances by various student groups from 6:45pm - 8:00pm, and a post-event reception. Sponsored in conjunction with the Interfaith Center and several student organizations.
Got Midterms? Looking for a quite place to study? Visit the UNITI Cultural Center, located in the SB Union (Suite 135). The UCC has a comfortable lounge that is ideal for studying without distractions. Study groups can reserve meeting rooms for private use, when available. The Diversity Challenge Grant provides up to $500 to support campus programs that promote diversity awareness and multicultural education. Mini-grants are awarded on a monthly basis. Student African American Brotherhood National Organization (SAAB) - Chartered in April 2007, the Stony Brook Chapter of SAAB is the first in the State University of New York System, the State of New York, and the U.S. Northeast. SAAB is a campus-wide program dedicated to promoting student success and inclusion. Interested students are welcome to join.
