Experience Stony Brook (Orientation Part II)

When is Experience Stony Brook?
For students entering the spring 2013 semester, Experience Stony Brook will take place on Sunday, January 27, 2013. You will attend a series of programs and activities designed to acclimate you to Stony Brook and introduce you to faculty, staff, and fellow students. Classes begin on Monday, January 28, 2013. These days are mandatory for all new students. Students who do not attend Experience Stony Brook will receive an Orientation Hold on their account and will be required to participate in the Required Orientation Makeup Experience (ROME) during the semester.
Where is Experience Stony Brook?
Experience Stony Brook events take place across campus. An email will be sent to you in January with a check-in location.
What happens at Experience Stony Brook?
Experience Stony Brook is a full day program. You will meet with other first-year students and will receive important information about your rights and responsibilities as a Stony Brook student, including policy information on issues such as drugs and alcohol, sexual assault, hazing, and the University code of conduct. You will also receive lunch and your student ID card and have the opportunity to visit an information fair consisting of various university departments.

What should I bring to Experience Stony Brook?
For Experience Stony Brook, students are required to bring their student ID to all events, as student attendance will be taken via their ID cards. Student IDs will be picked up when students check-in to the residence halls or on the first day of Experience Stony Brook for commuter students.
Can I bring a guest to Experience Stony Brook?
Guests are welcome to assist residential students with move-in, however, they are not able to attend Experience Stony Brook events.
