Pre-Professional Advisors
Lakshmi Ramsoondar
Pre-Professional Advisor
Lakshmi earned her B.A. in Asian and Asian American Studies and Political Science, and later earned her M.A. in Public Policy at Stony Brook. During her undergraduate career, Lakshmi worked as an Orientation Leader, and became a part of the advising family as an Academic Peer Advisor in her senior year.
After graduation with her undergraduate degree in 2009, Lakshmi worked as a Graduate Assistant in the Undergraduate Admissions Office and as an Assistant Coordinator for Community Standards in Campus Residences. After graduating in 2010 with her M.A., she began to pursue a career in higher education and worked as a Residence Hall Director at SB. Lakshmi has always loved working with, and advising students. She is super excited to rejoin the group as a Pre-professional Advisor and looks forward to giving much seawolf support to our students!
Joanie Maniaci
Assistant Director for Pre-Professional Advising
JoanMarie Maniaci earned two degrees at Stony Brook University (B.A. in English and an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). While an undergraduate at Stony Brook she participated in the Academic Peer Advisor Program and has been working in the Academic & Pre-Professional Advising Center since August 2003.
She has enjoyed serving in several capacities in the Center, from managing the front desk to advising sophomores, and now, as an assistant director for pre-professional advising. Currently, JoanMarie is an instructor for the Preparing for Medical School course and coordinates the Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Health Program. She is greatly appreciative for this opportunity and hopes to provide students with the same support she always received from the advising center.
James Montren
