Description: We are registered with the IHSA, Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. Stony Brook is Zone 2 Region 4. Competitions are on Long Island and Connecticut against affiliated universities.
The IHSA is made up of full time college students who may compete in a style of riding called Hunt Seat Equitation. Many of these riders are beginners who have managed to learn to ride while attending school; some may have had extensive showing experience in the junior ranks.
There are 8 levels of riding, Beginner walk-trot through Open equitation, and we are definitely in need of more riders!!
Practice days and times: Weekday and Saturday afternoons, by appointment with our coach. We practice at least once every week at Olde Towne Equestrian Center located approximately 15 minutes off campus.
