Laura is the Asst. Director of Fitness and Wellness of the Campus Recreation Center. She has over 10 years of experience in fitness. She has an MS in Exercise Physiology, an  AFAA Certified Personal Trainer, AFAA Group Fitness Instructor, U.S. Master Trainer in TAPfit, Bolly X Instructor, and TRX Qualified.


Osama Khalil

Senior Coordinator for Group Fitness & Wellness. Certified in teaching Zumba Basic 1 & 2, STRONG by Zumba, Zumba Toning, Zumba Step and BollyX.  Applied Math and Economics Undergraduate senior with a huge passion for dance, photography, traveling and making the world a happier place! Come join me for my favorite happy hour and see what ditching the workout, joining the party is all about.



Certified Pink Gloves Boxing© Trainer. She is the Pink Gloves Boxing Coordinator as well. Undergraduate biochemistry major on a pre-med track. Loves martial arts and has over 10 years of experience in taekwondo.

patricia Patricia
Certified through the Indo-American Yoga-Vedanta Society. Teaching yoga for over 20 years. Learned yoga from world renowned master, Swami Bua. Believes that yoga is a lifestyle and a passion.


Rebecca has been an AFAA-certified group fitness instructor since 2013 and has experience teaching numerous class formats, including cardio, sculpt, core, interval training, barre, and Pilates. She aims to teach classes which are high-intensity, yet allow for participants at all levels of fitness to succeed. She loves sharing her passion for fitness with others, inspiring them to challenge themselves to become stronger inside and out! 


Certified in Pilates and also instructing some cardio sculpt classes. Her fitness journey has been so much fun that she wants to help others along their journey to realize fitness isn't unattainable and working out can be fun. She loves when participants realize they're improving and the spark of confidence that's ignited when they realize yes, they can do it and yes, they are strong!

Alexis Parkhust 

Alexis Parkhurst

Alexis has been teaching fitness classes since her freshman year in 2014, and loves teaching RIPPED, Body Sculpt, and HIIT. She loves music, growing up dancing, singing, and playing guitar. Her goal is to connect rhythm with strengthening and toning movements in classes so that participants can have fun while getting in a workout.

Certified AFAA Personal Trainer with 20 years of experience. Graduated with a Bachelors Degree from Binghamton University, and Doctorate Degree from NY Chiropractic College. Knowledgeable, driven and great motivator.

Bianca Palluci

Hello! I'm Bianca, a 5th year student in the BA/MAT program for Spanish Education. I am certified in Spin by Mad Dog and have completed the Group Ex. certification course through Stony Brook University. I have been teaching indoor cycle since 2014 and love it more than ever! My classes are fast paced and high energy! So, get ready to have fun and break a serious sweat!


Group Fitness Certification Prep Course Graduate Fall 2015 and licensed POUND instructor. Current SBU sophomore majoring in Health Science. Enjoys teaching Pump and Sculpt and loves to inspire others to work hard!


Silvia Ghinassi

Group Fitness Certification Prep Course Graduate Spring 2017 and certified Pink Gloves Boxing© Trainer. Currently a Ph.D. student in mathematics. She enjoys skiing, hiking and basically anything related to mountains! Loves to teach, spur people on and exercise, so being a fitness instructor is just perfect for her! 


Certified AFAA Group Exercise Instructor and RealRyder Indoor Cycling Instructor. Over five years of experience. Fitness enthusiast that loves to teach Yoga, Pilates, and Cycling. Received a BA in Korean Studies from Binghamton University and is currently a part of the Pre-Health Post-Baccalaureate Program at Stony Brook.


Samantha J Maher

Certified ACE Personal Trainer and PIYO instructor. Graduated from Binghamton University with a bachelors degree in Psychology and currently in the Stony Brook Masters in Occupational Therapy Program. My goal is to help people lead a happy and healthy life whether that be through fitness or therapy.


Pamela Carrillo

Group Fitness Certification Prep Course Graduate Fall 2015 and licensed Zumba (R) instructor. Ph.D. chemistry student. Originally from Ecuador, she wants to share her love for latin music and fitness to the SBU community. She believes dancing is a great alternative for cardio and that strength training is needed for attaining anybody's fitness goals.  


Lauren Flicker&nbsp

Graduate student in the Masters of Occupational Therapy program. Certified Spinning instructor through Mad Dogg Athletics. Coach volleyball, crossfit, run, and into nutrition to help create a positive and healthy lifestyle. 



Sarah Skender

Certified Pink Gloves Boxing© Pro Trainer. She is currently a senior majoring in biochemistry. She has over 10 years of martial arts experience and is excited to share her passion with others. Outside of PGB, she is the president of the Stony Brook Taekwondo Club and a competitor on the intercollegiate team.


Peter Iapozzuto

Peter Iapozzuto has been able to combine his two passions in life as a Grad student at SBU.  Prior to SBU Peter has worked as a group fitness instructor during the summer to some of the most prestigious international luxury resorts where he has taught all day classes of  tai chi, yoga, and power yoga. Yoga has enabled him to enrich many other parts of his life and would like to share his knowledge to his fellow Seawolves!



Certified 250hr Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga instructor. Undergraduate linguistics major. Taught in Chicago for the last year. Believes in the spiritual and mental benefits of a physically challenging practice.


Belly Dancing
SBU Belly Dancers, a multicultural and performance group on campus. Trained by renowed Belly Dancer Yoco Yoshikawa in proper technique and isolation. We love to dance!


SBU Junoon
SBU Junoon, Bollywood fusion dance team that incorporates all different types of styles from the East and the West, both traditional and modern into a fun, upbeat and unique dance experience.



Community Relations Team, University Police (Joseph, Jared & Pete)
The members of the University Police are committed to community policing and are actively involved in campus activities. The goal of the Community Relations Team is to educate the campus community on personal safety, risk awareness, crime prevention (including date and acquaintance rape prevention), drug and alcohol risk awareness, and many other community safety issues.
