The Department of Campus Recreation coordinates many programs for the University community, including Intramural Sports, Wellness Programs, Sport Clubs, informal Open Recreation, Special Events, and Equipment Rental. Our primary goal is to enhance the quality of campus life for students, faculty, and staff by providing a diverse range of programs and facilities to meet your recreational needs. The University community is encouraged to take advantage of the many recreational programs and fitness facilities on campus. We have something for everyone!

Personal Training & Group Exercise Certification
Take your passion for Fitness & Wellness to the next level with Campus Recreation. NETA, the National Exercise Trainers Association (www.netafit.org), will be on campus; Saturday, February 6, 2010 for a Primary Group Exercise Certification, Sunday, February 7, 2010 for a Drums Alive Workshop, and February 20-21, 2010 for a Personal Training Certification. Wellness Center 3 Day Free Pass
All Faculty & Staff can now experience the Wellness Center for FREE with our limited availability 3 Day Free Pass. Faculty & Staff can sign up for a FREE pass by visiting the Wellness Office in the Student Activities Center, Room 225. The pass is good for any 3 Days during the spring semester. All you will need in order to sign up is your Stony Brook University ID card. If you have any questions regarding the Wellness Center or this promotion please do not hesitate to contact us at 632-6850.

Rec-a-thon - The Department of Campus Recreation, Division of Student Life, Campus Residences and Red Hot After Hours is co-sponsoring this event. The Rec-a-thon will take place on Friday, February 5th from 9:00pm - 1:00am in the Sports Complex Arena. This event is free to all undergraduate and graduate students. Events that will be taking place are as follows: 3 on 3 basketball, 6 on 6 volleyball, extreme dodgeball, Dance, Dance Revolution, rock climbing wall, Adrenaline Rush Maze, board games, fitness classes, FREE FOOD and much more . . . . New Jersey Devils Game - February 12, 2010 at 7:00pm. Come join us as the NJ Devils take on the Nashville Predators. Bus will be departing at the SAC Loop at 4:30pm and returning to campus at approximately 11:30pm. Tickets are $15.00 for undergraduate students and $25.00 for graduate students. Tickets go on sale at the SAC ticket office on Monday, January 25, 2010 and are limited. For more information, please contact David Hairston at 632-7120.

Catamount Ski Trip - On Sunday, February 14, the Department of Campus Recreation in conjunction with Chillfest is co-sponsoring a ski trip to Catamount Mountain in Upstate New York. From the super-gentle to super steep, Catamount Mountain has the best and most diverse trail network in the Berkshires. With over 32 trails and more than 119 skiable acres, students will treated to an 1 ½ hour ski lesson (optional), all day lift ticket, lunch and transportation all for only $20.00 for undergraduate students and $35.00 for graduate students. An additional $40.00 refundable deposit is required upon registration. Ski rental is an extra $28.00 - $35.00. Bus will leave from SAC look at 5:15am. We will be departing Catamount at 3:30pm and will arrive back on campus at approximately 7:30pm. Tickets go on sale on Monday, January 25, 2010 at the SAC Ticket Office and are limited. NJ Net's Game: Friday, Feb 19, 2010 @ 8:00pm. Come join us as the NJ Net's take on the Toronto Raptors. Bus will be departing at the SAC Loop at 4:45pm and returning to campus at approximately 11:45pm. Tickets are $10.00 for undergraduate students and $20.00 for graduate students. Canterbury Cross Country Ski, Ice Skating and Snow Shoeing Trip - On Sunday, February 21, the Department of Campus Recreation in conjunction with Chillfest is co-sponsoring a cross country ski, snow shoe and ice skating trip to Beckett, MA. Choose one or all of the activities. Cross Country Ski lessons will be provided as well as all equipment rentals. Cost of the trip is $20.00 for undergraduate students and $35.00 for graduate students. An additional $30.00 refundable deposit is required upon registration. Transportation, lift tickets, lessons and equipment rental is included in the cost. Bus will depart SAC Loop at 5:15am. We will be departing Beckett, MA at 2:30pm and will arrive back to campus at approximately 7:00pm. Tickets go on sale on Monday, January 25, 2010 at the SAC Ticket Office and are limited. Stony Brook University Breaks Ground On Campus Recreation Center
Inclement weather could not put a damper on the celebratory event that was the official ground breaking ceremony for the new Campus Recreation Center (CRC) at Stony Brook University on June 5. The $37.5 million 85,000 square-foot CRC is a student-oriented facility featuring contemporary work out space, space for a quality intramural program and for sports club team practice and competition.
