Room Selection: 2017-2018 School Year
Room Selection is an online process which gives current residents the opportunity to renew their housing agreement for the following academic year. Missing a deadline means you forfeit your housing for the next year. Please be sure to adhere to the deadlines and to the Room Selection Timeline.

*Are you currently living off-campus or commuting, but are interested in living on campus this fall? If you move on campus this semester, before March 24, 2017, you will be eligible to go through the room selection process to live on campus for the 2017-2018 academic year. If you are interested in this please fill out our On-Campus Interest Form.
Room Selection Timeline
March 6 - April 6
Submit a room deposit on the housing portal.
Chapin, Schomburg, West Apartments, Chávez and Tubman Selection:
March 27 - March 30 as follows:
|March 27||Room Selection for current Chapin, Schomburg, West Apartment, Chávez and Tubman residents returning to the same space. Roommate selections do not apply.|
|March 28||Room Selection for current Chapin, Schomburg, West Apartment, Chávez and Tubman residents seeking a different space within the same building they currently reside. The apartment/suite must be filled.|
|March 29||Room Selection for current Chapin, Schomburg, West Apartment, Chávez and Tubman residents seeking a different building within the same area they currently reside. The apartment/suite must be filled.|
|March 30||Room Selection for any eligible resident seeking to live in Chapin, Schomburg, West Apartments, Chávez or Tubman. The apartment/suite does not need to be filled.|
Remaining Residence Hall Selection:
April 3 - April 6 as follows:
|April 3||Room Selection for current residents returning to the same space. Roommate selections do not apply.|
|April 4||Room Selection for current residents seeking a different space within the same building they currently reside. The room must be filled.|
|April 5||Room Selection for current residents seeking a different building within the same quad they currently reside. The room must be filled.|
|April 6||Room Selection for any eligible resident seeking to live in a different quad. The room does not need to be filled.|
Room Swap Week
April 10 - April 14 as follows:

Attend an information session if you would like to learn more about the Room Selection process. You can attend any information sessin regardless of where you live or are planning to live on campus for the 2017 - 2018 academic year.

A Room Deposit of $200 must be paid online before participating in Room Selection between March 6th and April 6th. In addition, all students participating in Room Selection must have a clear balance with the University, including parking fees.
Note: Failure to pay the Room Deposit on time will result in forfeiture of Room Selection privileges. Students who do not sign up for housing during Room Selection will not receive housing for the next academic year.
*RAs, AIM, EOP, graduate students, and full scholarship recipients are exempt from paying the Room Deposit.
Every resident will be given a timeslot that marks at what time during the Room Selection process they can log on to the housing portal to fill out their application. Dates start March 27th, which is the beginning of the Room Selection process. However, the timeslot is what matters when choosing where to live.
Room Selection is a lottery with priority based on:
- Seniority (class year):
Within each phase of the Room Selection process, priority is given to class year from highest to lowest class standing.
- Size of Group:
Room Selection priority is given to groups that can fill an entire room or suite.
- Proximity to Space Selected:
Priority is given to those interested in returning to their current building, followed by those returning to their Quad / Area and lastly to those interested in moving to a new Quad / Area.
Use the Roommate Profile tools to pair up with other residents who you know you’d like to live with, or to search other profiles to find potential roommate, suitemate and/or apartmentmates with whom you'd like to live.
Note: All roommate or suitemate requests must be agreed upon by every resident selected, using the Roommate/Suitemate Acceptance screen. Only current residents are eligible to participate in Room Selection.
*If you have any problems selecting roommates/suitemates or accepting an initiation please contact your RHD.
Please pay particular attention to all dates and deadlines associated with the Room Selection process. Students who fail to successfully complete Room Selection by 9:00pm on April 6, 2017 will not receive housing for the 2017-2018 academic year.
