In response to the increasing demand for on-campus housing from new and continuing students, the University has been working to  complete construction of the Toll Drive Project, which is located between Mendelsohn Quad and Toll Drive. The project will provide 759 additional beds and a 60,000 square foot state of the art dining facility for SBU students, staff, and faculty, which are set to open soon.

Phase I of the Residence Hall project is nearing completion and residents will begin moving in by mid September 2016. Phase 2 of the residence hall project is scheduled for completion by the start of Spring 2017. The new residence halls will bring the total campus housing inventory above 10,300 beds. The new facility will be suite style, single room design, upper division student housing, with hopes of gaining LEED Certification.

Construction on the Dining Hall, to be known as East Side Dining, is also well underway to completion and will open later this semester. Until then, the dining facilities in the Stony Brook Union will remain open.

We will keep you informed of the project’s status as the semester progresses and the actual completion date becomes clearer. Please know that our first priority is in meeting your needs for a safe and comfortable place to live for the coming academic year.

Should you have any questions, please contact Alan Devries, Associate Director of Residential Programs, at reside@stonybrook.edu.

Don't forget to come back often and check as the construction project progresses!
