SAC ART GALLERY - CURRENT SHOW
HYBRID GEOGRAPHIES
SAC ART GALLERY
OCT 24 - DEC 11, 2009
RECEPTION MON OCT 26 4:30-7PM
This exhibition examines the transformations of space that have taken
place with the advent of digital technologies. Through wireless
networks and the satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS),
microcomputers enable us to send text, audio and video across the
globe in a matter of seconds, reshaping our relationship to place, to
history, to information, and to each other. Wherever else we may be,
we are increasingly online. Text messages, social networking sites,
and blogs occasion novel forms of intimacy and distance. Google maps
and GPS receivers overwrite landscape with data. HYBRID GEOGRAPHIES
seeks to reflect and explore new physical and conceptual spaces and
asks for your participation in mapping these new territories.
Organized by the Consortium for Digital Arts, Culture, and Technlogy
