June 17 & 18 is from a series of sculptures entitled "365 Dumb Days." The title refers not to a specific event on that particular day but to a state of mind that may be in action on that day. In this case, June 17 & 18 is about relationships and desire- a compulsion to possess, where circumstances, rational thinking can't outweigh the want, the must-have, the can't-live-without-it state of mind that is in control. In retrospect, these occurrences are often comic, absurd and very, very dumb. But isn't this how one gets through life: bumbling and recovering, submitting and transcending, hoping for the best and sometimes getting it.
