How to Make a First Appointment

Call 632-6720 and say: "I'd like to speak to a counselor".

The Center is located on the second floor of the Student Health Center and is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (8 p.m. to 4 p.m. summer, intersession and spring break) Counseling services are available year-round, including summers and school vacations.

We try to schedule the first (assessment) visit on the day that you make the request. Your class schedule may require an appointment for the next day. To be seen for the first visit, call the Center at 632-6720 or come in on the day you wish to be seen. The earlier you call the more choices there are for an appointment. The receptionist arrives at 8:00 a.m. In the event of an emergency, you can come to the Center and be seen right away during the Center's office hours.

During the first visit, you and the counselor together make an assessment and decide what to do next. Sometimes the one session is all that is needed. Most often, the decision is made to see a counselor at the Center once a week for two or three months. Sometimes the best course of action includes a referral to another service, either on or off campus.
